Designers & Forests

In 2013, M. Urban, D. Byström, and I undertook a project to use our graphic and industrial design skills to investigate our industry's connection to forests, specifically forest preservation. Through directed and focused action, we adopted a design methodology of exploration, reflection, and response. Our first project brought students from Sweden and NY to learn from and engage with these unique ecosystems. Since then, we have conducted projects and workshops in New York, Iceland, and the Netherlands. The project continues today through design curriculum, independent creative research projects, and Dr. Urban’s doctoral and scholarly research.
